[DVD-Rip] Babak Jalali-Heydar, an Afghan in Tehran (2005) [SEEDERS (1)/LEECHERS (0)]

somebody else posted this on another site, I take no credit, I simply repost here for your convenience, the description is the original posters.

Heydar, yek Afghani dar Tehran

Heydar is a young Afghan living in Iran. He works as a servant for a rich old recluse. It is not a very demanding life: his duties involve cooking, grocery shopping, housekeeping and washing clothes. He has enough free time to hang out with his friends (all fellow Afghan refugees) and to practice English with the hopes of being able to return to his homeland to work as a translator.

And that, in the proverbial nutshell, is Babak Jalali’s short “Heydar, An Afghan in Tehran.” This is truly the Islamic Republic’s answer to “Seinfeld”: an Iranian film about nothing. How long Heydar was in Tehran, how he got his job, where his family is, and if he has a girlfriend or wife somewhere are just a few of the many unanswered questions raised by this film.

Aside from a brief but hilarious sight gag of Heydar stoically watching a woman munch on grapes in a supermarket, the film has zero to recommend except handsome production values and handsome Heydar Zamani as the title character. Zamani resembles Daniel Day-Lewis and could possibly find a new career as Hollywood’s resident ethnic hottie – provided the mullahs allow him to leave Iran to work in demonic Tinseltown.
-filmthreat

[Music] Zedbazi Discography (2002-2011) [SEEDERS (0)/LEECHERS (0)]

ZedBazi Biography
E-mail Print PDF

Zedbazi Band

Zedbazi is a Persian Rap group based in London, England, and Paris, France, currently consisting of members Mehrad Hidden, Saman Wilson and Sohrab MJ, Alireza JJ, Sijal, Nassim.

An over night success

ZedBazi was the first music group in Iran that used Explicit lyrics in their music. Graphic descriptions of sexual encounters, the consumption of narcotics and violence were not familiar topics to Iranian listeners. Therefore the group became the most talked about group among teenagers in Tehran that had only heard this type of expression from American Rappers. Another reason for ZedBazi's fame was that back in 2002 when the Saman Wilson made a cover of Eminems without me, there were no well known rappers in Iran, and if there were, they did not used "bad language" in their songs.

Members 'nd Styles

Saman Wilson: He is known as the father gangsta rap in Iran. He has a laid-back style of rapping, he often uses wordplay in his rap. He also alongside Sohrab MJ introduced Multi-syllable rhyming to Persian Music. His lyrics often contain strong language and shots at other rappers.

Mehrad Hidden: He is the main singer of the group. In addition to rapping, he usually sings the hooks in ZedBazi's songs. He grew up singing rock songs, and still releases 2 or 3 songs each year as Mehrad Hidden. He also serves as one of the groups producers along side Alireza JJ. He plays the guitar, the drums, and the piano. His rapping style often gets overshadowed by His demanding voice; Mehrad Hidden's voice is one of the most well known voices in Iranian Hip-Hop.

Alireza JJ: He is probably the most controversial member of ZedBazi. He often takes shots at other artists and sometimes even his own fans. His flow is often slower than the other members, but he makes up for it by having controversial and politically-charged lyrics:"chejoori rafte on lahjeye aalie Amricayi/ too oon kaleye Khalie Ariayi?", "Ellate davamemoon/ Mellate Javademoon". He also serves as a producer in the group alongside Mehrad Hidden.

Sohrab MJ: He is considered to be one of the best rhymers in Iranian Hip-Hop. He has the most dynamic style in the group, in terms of flow and rhymes. He often uses dark humor to convey his point. Was the Bush administration's emphasis on military intervention, refusal to negotiate, and pursuit of regime change a better approach? How can the United States best address the ongoing turmoil in Tehran? This book provides a definitive and comprehensive analysis of the Obama administration's early diplomatic outreach to Iran and discusses the best way to move toward more positive relations between the two discordant states.

Trita Parsi, a Middle East foreign policy expert with extensive Capitol Hill and United Nations experience, interviewed 70 high-ranking officials from the U.S., Iran, Europe, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Brazil—including the top American and Iranian negotiators—for this book. Parsi uncovers the previously unknown story of American and Iranian negotiations during Obama's early years as president, the calculations behind the two nations' dealings, and the real reasons for their current stalemate. Contrary to prevailing opinion, Parsi contends that diplomacy has not been fully tried. For various reasons, Obama's diplomacy ended up being a single roll of the dice. It had to work either immediately—or not at all. Persistence and perseverance are keys to any negotiation. Neither Iran nor the U.S. had them in 2009.

;;

Green is the color of hope. Green is the color of Islam. And Green was the symbol of recognition among the supporters of presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi, who became the symbolic figure of the Green Revolution in Iran last year. The presidential elections on June 12th, 2009 were supposed to bring about a change, but contrary to all expectations the ultra-conservative populist Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was confirmed in office. As clear as was the result, as loud and justified were the accusations of vote-rigging. The on-going Where is my vote? protest demonstrations were again and again worn down and broken up with brutal attacks by government militia. Images taken from private persons with their cell phones or cameras bear witness to this excessive violence: people were beaten, stabbed, shot dead, arrested, kidnapped, some of them disappearing without trace. What remains is the countless number of dead or injured people and victims of torture, and another deep wound in the hearts of the Iranians.

[wmv] Prostitution Behind the Veil (Iran 2006) [SEEDERS (0)/LEECHERS (0)]

Prostitution Behind the Veil explores a side of Iran rarely seen or talked about. For over a year, director Nahid Persson filmed the everyday lives of two young female prostitutes in Iran as they eked out a living in a country where the profession is banned. The filmmaker often took great risks to follow Minna and Fariba as they sought out customers-men who would often marry them briefly, so as not to violate the laws of Islam by having extramarital sex. The two women are good friends and neighbor, who have experienced the widespread mistreatment of women and the double standards that permeate Iranian society today.

In the '80s, documentary filmmaker Nahid Persson fled Iran for Sweden. When she returns 17 years later, she finds the divisions between the classes greater than ever, unemployment has skyrocketed and widespread disillusionment provides a lucrative market for an elderly man, Habib, who sells prophecies on the streets. Persson decided to film this "prophecy merchant" and his customers. And when she went with him to his run-down house, she was both shocked and intrigued to discover he shares his accommodation with Minna and Fariba, who are also heroin addicts.

Putting herself at great risk, Persson manages to film Minna and Fariba's customers. She even gets into cars or apartments where they discuss what services the girls are prepared to provide and what it will cost. Their children are their constant companions, and on one occasion one customer looks after Minna's child while another man has sex with her in an adjoining room. Many of the women's customers find a way to buy sex and still comply with Muslim law: they marry with the women in what is called 'sighe'-a temporary marriage legal in Shia Islam. 'Sighe' can last from two hours up to 99 years. In the documentary, both Minna and Fariba undergo 'sighe' with customers. Habib offers his perspective on temporary marriages: to him, 'sighe' is a way of helping miserable women-an act of mercy done in the name of God.
